Dahana Shakti (Kritika)

We have 3 main points in our charts: the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendent. Each of these 3 main points fall into a Nakshatra, which has a specific Shakti (power, energy). You can see the Shaktis of these 3 main points as divine gifts, a type of siddhi you have, but without the effort and practice – since you were born with them.

The other astrological points also fall into Nakshatras, but the expression of these shaktis tends to be minor when compared to the 3 main points.

The Dahana Shakti – the power ‘to burn’ or ‘to purify’ – of Krittika Nakshatra represents its unique ability to incinerate negativity, transform what remains undeveloped or tainted, and refine all that needs further ripening. Rooted in the essence of Agni – the sacred fire that brings rebirth and clarity – this power focuses on the necessity of burning away harmful influences, making sure the soul and body move toward wholeness and truth.

This Shakti operates through three primary levels:

The basis above is heat, symbolizing the intensity and spark of action that pushes things to a threshold.

The basis below is light, representing illumination in the sense of revealing where negativity might be lurking, both externally and internally.

The result is purification and burning away what is no longer helpful, allowing individuals to refine their state of being and move forward unburdened.

At its core, Krittika’s Shakti embodies purification through destruction, helping us eliminate detrimental thoughts, behaviors, and exterior influences, making sure we do not carry forward what no longer contributes to our evolution. It seeks to refine and sharpen, teaching the necessity of straightforward and unfiltered confrontation with our defects.

Agni’s presence emphasizes not only destruction but also nourishment, and it urges us to embrace transformation towards higher states. It represents the sacred fire of rituals (yagna) that transmutes offerings into divine energy. Agni’s influence here is not hesitant or conditional – it is absolute, consuming what is impure so that only what is sublime remains.

This Shakti elevates raw potential into something structured and beneficial. Within this process, the soul is sanctified in all layers and dimensions.

Krittika’s influence provides a strong undercurrent of directness and resolute honesty: when confronted with the need to burn away old patterns, this Nakshatra does not hesitate. Its forthright approach to purification brings a clearer sense of purpose and a deeper level of self-awareness.

In my experience as an astrologer, I have noticed people with this Nakshatra generally have a strong ability to detect and incinerate what no longer serves them, whether in habits, environments, or relationships. If they encounter situations requiring refinement or transformation, they manage to push through the necessary burning process with remarkable directness, making sure nothing impure lingers in their space. There is an inner knowing that every fire clears the way for a new, purified state of being. You can expect becoming somewhat like this as you integrate this field, trusting that each purification orchestrated by Krittika opens a doorway to greater clarity, renewal, and disciplined transformation.

2-3 times a day is a good amount. Don’t overuse. Permanent effects.
