The Samurai (also bushi) were a class of Elite and highly-trained soldiers adept at using both the bow and sword and were an essential component of Japanese armies in the medieval period.
They lived by a strict honor code based on Confucian and Buddhist principles. While samurai were fierce fighters, most were also accomplished writers and artists who helped establish Japanese culture as we know it today. The Samuai are renowned for their strength, intelligence, loyalty, honor, and bravery in the face of conflict and instability. Bushido is the way of the warrior, the codex of Samurai during feudal Japan which promoted the importance of loyalty, honor and martial arts. The Samurai personified the traits of righteousness (gi), honesty (sei), loyalty (chugi), honor (meiyo), respect (mei), courage (yu) and consistency (makoto)!They were adept at archery, the spear, fencing, horse riding, military strategy, use of firearms and techniques of Jiu Jitsu. Munshin is also known as the state of Budo which is referred to by Bruce Lee when he said:”Be like water “So the Mushin state of mind helps one to be like water, always in the Flow StateFudoshin: A state of equanimity or imperturbability — literally and metaphorically, “immovable mind”, “immovable heart”, or “unmoving heart”. It is a philosophical or mental dimension to Japanese martial arts which contributes to the effectiveness of the advanced practitioner. Fearlessness is another aspect of it along with great will-power, unshakeable unflinching mindset, mental toughness, endurance, emotional control, reaction control, fearlessness, deep rooted (innate) power, immovable presence, enhanced Confidence, increased Focus, and master over the mind and not the other way round.
